Some of you probably been shifting toward minimalism. When you want to live a quality lifestyle, you definitely have to be more conscious of your environment and everything else around you. So that way you can be a healthier version and the best version of yourself. It all starts with our actions and trying to do something about it. Trying is better than not doing anything at all, right?
Here are some of our Sustainable Zero Waste Hacks to reduce waste in your household.
1. Grocery bags
The cheap and easy things you can do to start using less plastic is to stop using plastic grocery bags. A budget option for using fewer plastic shopping bags would be to reuse the shopping bags that you have until they fall apart or you can buy some cloth bags that will last a little longer. Another plastic bag that you can avoid is the thin plastic bags at the food produce section at your grocery store.
2. Items that can last longer
Instead of constantly buying and throwing away stuff and creating new and more waste, why not buy and invest in items that can last longer? Instead of using plastic sandwich bags and plastic containers for packing lunches you can use glass and stainless steel containers for years.
You can reheat your food in these containers instead of reheating them in plastic containers, which can leak chemicals and they are not as safe.
3. Water bottles
Water bottles are something that a lot of people are still using even though they're very wasteful and they're actually not great for your health either because they're made with plastic that actually leeches chemicals into the water. A better option would be to reuse a glass juice bottle for example you can just rinse out after every use. You could invest in a stainless steel water bottle and if you're concerned about water quality it would be less wasteful to invest in a water filter than to keep using bottled water.
4. Wool balls
Here is a great tip on how to reduce electricity and also fabric softener. You can use either lavender essential oils or pretty much any essential oils you like. All you have to do is add a few drops into some wool balls and then throw them into your dryer. They can give the clothing or whatever you wash a nice scent. These wool balls should also soak up a lot of the moisturizer that are in the clothing and it will help eliminate half the time that it takes to dry your clothes.
5. Reuse old sheets
Instead of using paper towels or disposable materials, cut up an old sheet into three different sizes, small, medium, and large to use around the house. You can use the small ones to replace your napkins, the medium ones in the kitchen and the large ones to clean your home or floors.
6. All-purpose cleaner
To reduce the amount of chemicals you are bringing into your home, you can make your own all-purpose cleaner. Mix half water and half vinegar into a reusable spray bottle. Now you can use this everywhere in your home to clean. Spray it on the floor, on the kitchen counter top or in the bathroom. It will disinfect the surfaces and will clean up all the dirt and grime.
We hope these most basic easy and affordable tips that you can try in your everyday life will help you reduce the amount of garbage that you are producing.
